The French Government is relaxing traffic bans on trucks. However, the relaxations only apply to certain transport operations.
According to the decree of 26 November published by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Environmental Transformation, weekend bans on vehicles over 7.5 t have been lifted until the end of the year. However, the relaxation applies only to courier services. The French authorities say the move is required to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and the need to strengthen the supply chain before Christmas.
The lifting of traffic bans for the carriage of goods in vehicles with a GVW of more than 7.5 tonnes applies on the following weekends:
– 5-6 December,
– 12-13 December,
– 19-20 December,
– 26-27 December 2020.
As a reminder, the weekend traffic ban in France applies from 10 p.m. on Saturdays to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
Relaxation only applies to the carriage of courier services and returns associated with these services.
