At the end of last year, the French Ministry of the Interior issued a decree supplementing the general system of traffic restrictions for heavy goods vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 7.5 tonnes.
The decree introduces additional winter traffic bans on the road network in the “Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes” region. These restrictions will be in effect on Saturdays, February 8, 15, and 22, as well as March 1 and 8, 2025, from 07:00 to 18:00.

Bourg-en-Bresse – Chamonix
- A40 from Pont-d’Ain (junction A40/A42) to Passy-le-Fayet (junction A40/RD1205)
- RD 1084 from Pont-d’Ain (junction RD 1084/RD 1075) to Bellegarde
- RD 1206 from Bellegarde to Annemasse
- RD 1205 from Annemasse to Passy-le-Fayet
- RN 205 from Passy-le-Fayet to Chamonix
Lyon – Chambéry – Tarentaise – Maurienne
- A43 from the A46 south/A43 junction to the A43/A432 junction, in the Lyon–Chambéry direction

Summer bans
During the summer period, truck traffic is restricted across the entire road network of mainland France on Saturdays, July 5, 12, 19, and 26, as well as August 2, 16, and 23, 2025, from 07:00 to 19:00.
However, the prohibitions on Saturday, July 5, 2025, do not apply in the following regions:
- Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways southbound (towards Lyon and Beaune, respectively), where traffic bans for these vehicles remain in effect
- Hauts-de-France, except for the A1 and A16 motorways southbound (towards Paris), where traffic bans for these vehicles remain in effect at connections with the A29 motorway (southern connection with the A16 motorway)
The prohibitions on Saturday, August 23, 2025, do not apply in the following regions:
- Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Grand Est, except for the A6 and A31 motorways northbound (towards Paris and the Luxembourg border, respectively), where traffic bans for these vehicles remain in effect
- Hauts-de-France, except for the A1 and A16 motorways northbound (towards Lille and the Belgian border, respectively), where traffic bans for these vehicles remain in effect until connections with the A29 motorway (southern connection with the A16 motorway)
