The latest certification builds on GEODIS’ existing CEIV Pharma accreditation from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for air freight in Frankfurt. With the addition of GDP compliance for ocean freight, the company is now fully certified for pharmaceutical logistics across Germany.

The GDP certification confirms that GEODIS adheres to guidelines covering temperature control, storage, and handling of pharmaceutical products. These measures are crucial for ensuring that medicines remain effective and safe throughout the supply chain.

“The GDP certification is an essential component of our pharma strategy that we have been pursuing for three years,” said Antje Lochmann, Managing Director at GEODIS Germany. “For us, this certification is not only a quality mark but also proof of the trust our customers and partners in the pharmaceutical industry can place in us.”

The certification is based on the European Commission’s GDP guidelines, which set uniform quality standards for the distribution of medicinal products. These regulations help prevent counterfeit medicines from entering the supply chain and ensure full transparency in pharmaceutical logistics.

GEODIS has significantly expanded its pharmaceutical logistics capabilities in recent years. In 2023, the company completed its acquisition of trans-o-flex, a specialist in healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics. This move has enabled GEODIS to enhance its service portfolio and offer GDP-compliant industry solutions across Germany.

“Throughout the supply chain, pharmaceutical producers must demonstrate complete traceability and meet strict quality requirements,” GEODIS stated. “We continuously work to improve our processes and strengthen our position as a reliable partner in the demanding pharmaceutical market.”
