The Southeast Jutland Police in Denmark have revealed that a haulier and his son have both been charged with road transport offences following raids in the early hours of Friday morning.

The two men were both suspected of repeated cases of personal misconduct and violation of driving and rest time regulations.

According to the official police statement on the matter, the authorities had been investigating the haulier for a long time, as it was suspected that the driver’s licenses used in the trucks’ tachographs did not belong to the actual drivers. After the investigation yielded evidence the above suspicions were true, the police obtained a court order granting a search and arrest warrant.

The haulier and his son were then taken in by the police at around 4am last Friday morning. A major investigation will now be carried out to uncover the extent of the violations made by the company.

Meanwhile, 2 hauliers based in Sweden have been found guilty of similar offences.

Between them, the two hauliers were found to have used the wrong tachograph cards on 33 occasions in just two months during the Autumn of 2019. In 2020, the two companies were also unable to prove that some of the drivers on their books were legally employed.

The two hauliers have been charged  SEK 69,687 (roughly €6,950) and SEK 78,965 (roughly €7,858), respectively. Both companies went bankrupt last month.
