The new lorry park will be equipped with advanced security features, including surveillance cameras, secure fencing, and access control systems. It will also offer services such as rest areas, fuel stations, and wash facilities for HGV drivers.

The project has been awarded €4.5 million in funding from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, which aims to support the development of transport infrastructure in the EU. The Italian government has also provided €2.5 million in funding for the project.

The HGV parking area is part of Interporto di Prato’s wider efforts to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its logistics operations. The intermodal freight village provides a range of services, including warehousing, transportation, and logistics solutions, to businesses operating in various industries.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of this important project, which will help to improve the safety and security of HGV drivers while supporting the growth of the logistics sector in Tuscany and beyond,” said Carlo Giannuzzi, CEO of Interporto di Prato.

The new HGV parking area is expected to open later this year and will have a total of 400 HGV parking spaces.
