The call applies to trucks and buses built between 2016 and 2019, equipped with engine types D2676LF51-53 or D2676LOH35-37. Later models with Euro 6d and Euro 6e engines are not affected.

The company warns that in rare cases, these engines may suffer damage and potentially cause fires due to several factors including oil contamination, improper maintenance, and use of non-approved parts. Specifically, the lead-free bearings used to meet new regulatory requirements are more sensitive to oil ageing and contamination.

MAN has already conducted over 60,000 measures in approved workshops, addressing around 50% of the affected vehicles. The company maintains a fleet of approximately 120,000 HGVs and over 5,000 buses built during the specified period, of which 170 fire cases have been reported since the engines’ market introduction, including 18 incidents in 2024.

MAN stresses the importance of adhering to prescribed maintenance schedules and service intervals to prevent engine damage and ensure vehicle safety. The company has communicated this to affected customers multiple times since late 2022.

For vehicles yet to undergo the necessary checks, MAN has implemented technical measures such as the precautionary replacement of potentially damaged oil filter covers. Customers are urged to act promptly to mitigate risks and maintain the reliability of their vehicles.
