More HGVs expected on Brenner motorway due to temporary closure of ROLA train services

An increase in HGV traffic on the Brenner motorway is expected in August due to the temporary closure of some ROLA rail freight services.

Due to maintenance works, the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce has given notice that the railway line between Brenner and Fortezza will be completely closed from 11.00 pm on Sunday August 1st until 04.00 on Monday August 9th. The closure affect freight services as well as normal passenger trains.

Moreover, the The ROLA Trento – Wörgl – Trento services will not operate between the 1st and the 22nd of August.

The ROLA Brenner – Wörgl shall nonetheless run according to the normal timetable.

The Italian road transport association has warned that an increase in the volume of traffic on the Brenner motorway is expected. Where possible, they recommend the use of alternative routes, for example through Tarvisio .
