The study, titled “Safety, Environment, and Innovation in Transport Professionals in Spain,” unveils additional noteworthy findings. Merely 2 in 10 respondents indicate readiness with a second-generation smart tachograph in their fleets, while 45% cite its exclusion due to the perceived high cost.
The study underscores three pivotal aspects shaping the current landscape for transportation professionals: safety, technology, and sustainability.
In terms of sustainability, carriers emphasize emissions reduction (38%) and a transition to new fuel alternatives (37%). These figures align with the sector’s heightened awareness of its environmental footprint.
The study discloses that 16% of respondents are “very concerned” about the environmental impact of their activities, 18% are “quite concerned,” and 36% express a “moderate concern.” Nevertheless, 8 out of 10 carriers acknowledge the substantial impact of their operations on sustainability.
Commenting, Juan José Gil, the General Secretary of Fenadismer, remarked:
“Spanish transporters are committed to the decarbonization of the road transport sector, advocating for a realistic fleet renewal schedule and a policy grounded in energy neutrality.”
Consequently, the study discloses that the foremost priority for carriers is the reduction of emissions (38%) and the transition to new fuel alternatives (37%). In this context, one out of every four participants emphasized the significance of fostering public-private collaboration to enhance the overall sustainability of the sector.
