At the end of October, tests of a concept hydrogen-powered tractor began in the Port of Rotterdam. As the creators assure, the vehicle has torque comparable to that of diesel vehicles, but is much quieter and has zero emissions.
The unusual vehicle, known as YT203-H2, was developed by Terberg, a specialist vehicles manufacturer, in cooperation with zepp.solutions, a hydrogen fuel cell systems company.
The tractor operates at the United Waalhaven terminals in Rotterdam. It is equipped with four 350 bar hydrogen fuel tanks, which contain a total of 14.4 kg of hydrogen, reads the website of one of the manufacturers. This amount of fuel is sufficient for a whole day’s work in the port.
