Scania has announced organisational changes that will see 750 positions cut in Sweden as part of efforts to adapt to new market conditions and technological developments.

According to the company, the redundancies will mainly affect HR, People & Culture (around 400 positions) and the commercial units, including Sales and Marketing and Commercial Operations (around 350 positions). The notice does not concern blue-collar employees.

Christian Levin, President and CEO of Scania, said the restructuring was a difficult but necessary step to maintain competitiveness and continue driving the shift towards sustainable transport.

“Our world is changing rapidly through technological development, regionalisation and new market conditions. To remain strong in the future, we need to adapt, develop our ways of working, and review how we are organised,” he stated.

Jeanna Tällberg, Executive Vice President and Head of People and Culture, added that Scania’s responsibility is to conduct the process “respectfully and effectively” while building an organisation “better prepared for the future.”

Union consultations are currently under way, with Scania stressing that the changes are being implemented with care for the employees affected.
