A key feature of the S.BO MULTI is its integrated double-deck system with keyhole plates, designed to increase load space utilisation. According to Schmitz Cargobull, the second loading level allows the transport of up to 33 additional Euro pallets, depending on cargo type and configuration. The aluminium double-deck rails measure 2.05 metres in length, are installed at 1,200 mm intervals, and are compatible with load bars, lashing straps and cargo nets.

The side walls use a double-skin steel construction combined with galvanised keyhole plates. The manufacturer states that this design improves corrosion resistance and reduces long-term repair requirements. Reinforced corrugation in the plates is intended to increase load-bearing capacity during intensive use.
Modular platform and chassis options
The new semi-trailers are built on Schmitz Cargobull’s modular dry freight platform and incorporate components already used in the company’s Express range, including an aluminium front wall and insulated roof. Operators can choose between two chassis variants: a standard galvanised, bolted chassis, or the Heavy Duty X-TOUGH chassis, which is designed for higher drawbar loads.
The TrailerConnect® telematics system is supplied as standard, enabling fleet managers to monitor operating data. From a maintenance perspective, the manufacturer highlights the use of bonding and riveting techniques, which are intended to allow faster repairs and reduce vehicle downtime. Weld-free production is also cited as contributing to lower energy use and emissions during manufacturing.

Comparison with Krone and Wielton dry freight trailers
In the dry freight segment, the S.BO MULTI competes with models such as the Dry Liner STG from Krone and the Dry Master from Wielton.
Krone’s Dry Liner STG is also designed for multi-purpose use and is available with different side wall materials, including steel, plywood and plastic. A double-deck system can be specified as an option, alongside safety and assistance features such as tyre pressure monitoring, LED marker lights and reversing cameras. Krone’s approach is based on a long-established platform concept with a wide range of configurations.
Wielton’s Dry Master range focuses on adaptability for different types of cargo, including textiles, furniture and general freight. The trailers are offered with modular body solutions, aluminium components and optional double-deck equipment, with an emphasis on international operation and varied market requirements.
Positioning in the dry freight segment
With its integrated double-deck system and modular construction, the S.BO MULTI is positioned as a solution for operators seeking higher flexibility in load securing and cargo arrangement. Compared with established alternatives from Krone and Wielton, Schmitz Cargobull places particular emphasis on the standard integration of keyhole plates and compatibility with its existing platform components.
For operators, the practical relevance of these features is likely to depend on loading profiles, frequency of load changes, and total cost of ownership, including purchase price, maintenance effort and payload optimisation.
