Yesterday, the General Directorate of Road Traffic (DGT), launched a van inspection campaign.

The action will last until Friday 27 July. The Spanish services will focus on checking the speed, documentation, load, and validity of the technical inspection. They will also control drivers for the presence of alcohol and drugs in the bloodstream.

DGT reminds that vans in Spain are subject to speed limits lower than passenger cars. On motorways and expressways, the delivery vehicles cannot exceed 90 km/h, and on single carriageways, the maximum permitted speed is 80 km/h.

Drivers should also be mindful of the need to maintain an appropriate distance from the vehicle moving in front. In addition, DGT reminds of the safe placement of cargo.

Where to expect controls?

According to the Spanish media, DGT will create control points on roads where accidents happen most frequently (two-way single-carriageways). Officers will also appear in the vicinity of economic zones, loading and unloading areas.
