Keeping the cabin tidy is a commendable thing, but careless cleaning can end up being costly. At least that recently proved to the case for a Ukrainian driver working in Poland, who accidently threw out important documents while tidying up his truck. A day later he realised mistake when he was stopped by Polish Road Transport Inspectors.

The Ukrainian driver was stopped last Sunday on Poland’s National road No. Literally the day before, he accidentally threw away his current lorry permit while tidying up his cabin.

The costly mistake occurred because the trucker haden two set of permits for the journey – one ended on the last day of April, the other started on May 1. Unfortunately, during the cleanup, the driver made a mistake and threw the current permit away instead of the expired one.

According to Poland’s Road Transport Inspectorate, the error cost the trucker 8,400zł – approximately €1,832. His employers also had to pay for the price of having the lorry removed from the road:

The vehicle was removed from the road at the expense of the carrier. Therefore, in order to continue his journey, the driver must present a valid civil liability insurance policy and make a payment of PLN 8.4 thousand to the Insurance Guarantee Fund.
