Bidcorp UK has begun taking delivery of 165 new Scania vehicles as part of its largest fleet replacement programme in over a decade.

The order, which includes a range of 18-tonne P250 4×2 NA, 26-tonne P280 6×2 NA trucks and tractor units, is set to replace vehicles that have been in operation for more than 13 years. The new trucks will be deployed across the country, covering between 30,000 and 50,000 miles annually to support foodservice deliveries from depot to customer.

Scania UK confirmed the deal and delivered the first batch of vehicles this week. The company said the trucks will be in service for the next ten years.

Kevin Lanksford, Fleet and Specialist Vehicles Sales Director at Scania UK, said:

“We are pleased to continue working with Bidcorp UK, and to be helping them achieve their goals with the addition of these 165 new vehicles.”

Two of the vehicles in the order will also become the first to use ECOOLTECH’s natural refrigerant cooling system, part of Bidcorp’s ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental impact.

“These new additions will help us to carry out deliveries with increased efficiency, alleviating wait times and providing excellent service to our vast customer network,” said Faye Reeve, Head of Procurement at Bidcorp UK.

In addition to expanding the fleet, the new vehicles have been specified with features aimed at improving driver welfare and road safety. Larger cabs and engines have been chosen to enhance driver comfort, while all vehicles will come equipped with Direct Vision Standard kits and mirror guards. A three-year driveline warranty from Scania will also be included.

Other temperature-controlled trucks in the order will be equipped with bodywork from Gray & Adams, refrigeration units from Frigoblock and Carrier, and Dhollandia tail lifts.

Both companies have indicated a desire to explore further collaboration in areas related to sustainability.
