Employees to receive €7,000 bonus as Daimler Truck announces record results for 2023

Daimler Truck has announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2023, showing significant growth and improved profitability across key metrics. The company's performance in 2023 exceeded its financial targets and as a result, the truck manufacturer is paying a bonus of €7,000 to around 25,000 employees.

Revenue increased by 10% to €55.9 billion compared to €50.9 billion in the previous year, reflecting the company’s strong market presence and customer demand.

Adjusted EBIT surged by 39% to achieve a record level of €5,489 million, indicating significant profit growth across all segments.

The adjusted return on sales (ROS) in the Industrial Business reached 9.9%, up from 7.7% in the previous year, reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in profitability within the industry.

Industrial free cash flow reached a record level of €2,811 million, demonstrating strong operational performance and efficient financial management.

Earnings per share rose to €4.62, marking a substantial increase of 43% compared to the previous year.

The Board of Management and the Supervisory Board have proposed a dividend payment of €1.90 per share for the 2023 financial year, up from €1.30 per share in 2022.

Daimler Truck expanded its global product portfolio to include ten different zero-emission models, with notable launches such as the fully-electric Freightliner eM2 in North America and the battery-electric long-haul truck Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 in Europe.

Daimler Truck Financial Services expanded its global footprint, initiating operations in France and embarking on a cooperation in Romania, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s largest financial services providers for commercial vehicles.

For 2024, Daimler Truck expects revenue and adjusted EBIT to remain on par with 2023 levels, with adjusted ROS anticipated to range between 9.0% – 10.5%. Unit sales are projected to be between 490,000 and 510,000 units, reflecting a slight decrease compared to the previous year.

As to say thank you to its employees, the Board of Management and the General Works Council have jointly decided to pay out a profit-sharing bonus of 7,000 euros to the entitled tariff-scale employees. The bonus applies to roughly 25,000 tariff-scale employees in Germany, who will receive it with their April 2024 pay.

 Last year, the eligible employees received a profit-sharing bonus of 6,300 euros and a one-time appreciation bonus of 1,000 euros.
