Girteka has ordered another 900 Mercedes-Benz trucks

In an announcement published on 21 September 2026, Girteka described the latest order as another milestone in its long-standing cooperation with Daimler Truck. The agreement was signed at IAA Transportation in Hanover. The carrier operates long-haul services with its own vehicles and considers systematic fleet renewal an important part of its business model.

After 500 Actros L ProCabin trucks, Girteka orders 900 more

The new agreement covers 900 Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin trucks, with deliveries to Girteka scheduled for the first half of 2027.

The order follows an agreement announced in March 2026 between Girteka and Mercedes-Benz Trucks covering 500 trucks of the same model. Deliveries were scheduled in stages during 2026, and the carrier says those vehicles have already joined its fleet.

Together, the two orders announced in 2026 cover 1,400 Actros L ProCabin trucks — 500 delivered during 2026 and a further 900 due in the first half of 2027.

The two orders represent roughly 22% of Girteka’s current fleet, which consists of around 6,500 company-owned trucks operating across Europe. However, the fleet is not necessarily set to grow by the same number. Girteka describes the purchases as fleet renewal but has not said how many new trucks will replace vehicles being retired.

The value of the latest order and a detailed schedule for each delivery batch have not been disclosed.

Why Girteka relies on its own fleet

Girteka says the purchase forms part of a strategy based on owning and regularly renewing its fleet. The company says this approach gives it direct control over vehicle reliability, service quality and transport safety.

According to the executive, predictable operations are particularly important when handling temperature-controlled goods and high-value cargo.

In these segments, a vehicle breakdown can have consequences beyond the immediate disruption to transport planning. Temperature-sensitive goods must remain within the required conditions throughout the journey, while high-value cargo requires disruption risks to be kept low and appropriate security standards to be maintained.

The company also links the investment to its slogan, Our fleet. Our responsibility. In Girteka’s view, owning the vehicles and replacing them regularly helps maintain consistent service standards.

Actros L ProCabin features

Mercedes-Benz Trucks introduced the Actros L ProCabin in 2024 as a new generation of long-haul tractor unit. The model was developed to improve aerodynamics and operating efficiency.

One of the most visible changes is the 80-millimetre extension to the front of the cab, designed to reduce aerodynamic drag on the road. The truck also features driver-assistance technologies, including Active Brake Assist emergency braking and the Active Sideguard Assist 2 system, which monitors the areas alongside the vehicle.

When announcing the 500-truck order in March, Daimler Truck also said the vehicles would feature the MultiMedia Cockpit Interactive2 digital driver workstation and Predictive Powertrain Control. The latter uses route and terrain data to support more economical driving.

The detailed specification of the 900 newly ordered trucks has not yet been disclosed. It is therefore unclear whether they will have the same configuration as the vehicles delivered to Girteka in 2026.
