Webfleet, a fleet management solution provided by Bridgestone, is expanding its OEM.connect partner programme to include trailer manufacturers, with Schmitz Cargobull as the inaugural partner.

This collaboration enables commercial fleet operators to connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers to the Webfleet platform via factory-fitted telematics, thereby eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware installations. The integration aims to provide operators with access to critical trailer data, enhancing trailer utilisation, reducing downtime, and improving safety and security.

“Making our proven Webfleet Trailer solution now easily accessible via OEM data will help even more businesses with real-time data insights and actionable intelligence to maximise trailer performance,” said Taco van der Leij, Vice President of Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions.

Fleet operators can connect their trailers to the Webfleet platform using the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® telematics portal by entering their vehicle identification number (VIN). The factory-fitted telematics facilitate a seamless integration process, reducing costs and installation time. Users can access advanced Webfleet features, which include trip details, location monitoring, maintenance tracking, tyre pressure monitoring, and temperature data.

Sören Danielsen, Manager of Strategy & Business Development at Schmitz Cargobull, remarked that the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center allows hauliers to maintain control over their data and share selected information with third parties efficiently. The system enables the processing and transmission of diverse data, including vehicle information, tour details, and order status, promoting connectivity and transparency within the supply chain.

The partnership between Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull was formalised at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hanover, Germany. The integrated solution is now available to Webfleet customers across Europe, with plans to expand the programme to include trailers from additional manufacturers in the near future.
